At the launch of AI for Good, last September, Rutger van Hofste shared his experiences with applying machine learning to satellite data.
Rutger Hofste is a Research Analyst for WRI’s water team. His primary tasks include doing hydrological, GIS based analyses and improving the Aqueduct tool to impact and influence decision makers to advance solutions for today’s environmental challenges.
Prior to joining WRI, Rutger was in involved in a project to estimate the state of water in North Africa using satellite remote sensing. During his study Rutger also volunteered in a project in Southern India to improve small scale water filters for rural areas.
